- Lariat Necklace
- A lariat necklace typically has no clasp and is worn by threading or wrapping one end through the other end.
- Laser Drill Hole
- A pinpoint hole on the surface of a diamond that leads to a microscopic tunnel that has been drilled into a diamond. This type of hole is most often drilled to remove an internal inclusion, and is considered an artificial form of enhancement. We do not sell diamonds that are treated unless specified.
- Laser Inscription
- The process of using a micro-laser beam to etch a microscopic inscription onto the girdle of a diamond. The inscription may be the diamond's certificate number, a brand logo, or even a personal
- Latch Back
- The hinged arm closes and snaps into the u-shape lock.
- Length-to-Width Ratio
- The length-to-width ratio compares the length of a diamond to its width to convey how relatively square or rectangular a fancy-shaped diamond appears when viewed from the top.

- Light Fancy Yellow
- Fancy colored diamonds are not white diamonds with poor color grades. True yellow diamonds can be comparable to white diamonds, but are graded on a different color scale. Certified yellow diamonds are treasured for the color they exhibit
- Light Performance
- The overall appearance of a diamond when it is viewed from the top. The description factors in the brightness, fire, and scintillation of the diamond in both fixed and tilted positions. This is a component of the cut grade, as determined by the AGSL.
- Lobster Claw Clasp
- Named for its appearance, the lobster claw clasp uses the pressure of a tiny spring to keep its claw closed.
- Loupe
- A hand-held 10x magnifying glass designed to give the user a closer look at a gemstone or other object.
- Luster
- A combination of the pearl's exterior shine and glow from within. Luster is created by light reflected from tiny calcium crystals within the pearl nacre.
